C.C. “Dick” Dickson Jr. is a “silent leader” and a major contributor to our nation’s free enterprise system. He is a shining example of philanthropic service through his leadership on non-profit and educational boards. Dick grew up in Charlotte, North Carolina, graduated from Myers Park High School, and attended UNC Chapel Hill.  


career

In 1959, Dick was named branch manager of Henry V. Dick & Company.  Headquartered in Charlotte, North Carolina, the company was founded as a refrigeration wholesaler and later added HVACR sales to its business model. Dick later became President and CEO of what became known as the C.C. Dickson Company and helped grow the company to 120 branches with over 570 employees prior to its sale to United Refrigeration in 2011.

Free enterprise hero

Dick has a passion for service. For over 40 years, he was a member of the Wingate University Board of Trustees having served as its Chairman, Vice Chairman, and Chairman of the Executive Committee. He is also a founding board member of the Jesse Helms Center where he has served for more than 25 years.  He has served as a board member for the Salvation Army and many other charities. Dick has been married to Dorothy Dickson for 63 years. They have seven children, 16 grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.
